Bart Oor is driven by a simple yet powerful ambition: to leave a lasting and positive impact on the world’s oceans. With a background in mechanical engineering and business, and an MBA from Maastricht University, he first built his career across industry and consumer goods. Yet, a deep sense of purpose inspired him to radically change course, dedicating his skills and energy to ocean sustainability.

As co-founder of the Balean Foundation, Bart combines his expertise with a passion for collaboration and scalable impact. He believes lasting change for the ocean can be achieved by bringing people together, uniting knowledge, innovation, and action. By founding Balean, Bart stepped away from a conventional career path to focus on what truly matters: restoring balance to the blue heart of our planet.

Looking ahead, Bart envisions a future where the ocean thrives once again, and where collective action leaves behind a legacy of resilience and renewal.
