Melisa Rodriguez

I’m an environmental scientist and ocean advocate from Mexico, currently based in the Netherlands. My journey began with a degree in Environmental Science, where I specialized in marine and aquatic ecosystems. Over time, I realized that while we have many scientific solutions, what is often missing is communication that makes ocean issues inclusive and accessible.

This led me to working in ocean advocacy, connecting science, community, and storytelling for marine conservation. I have been lucky to also support amazing organizations around the globe such as Azul, ECOP Netherlands, and the Balean Foundation.

I am especially passionate about ocean justice, community empowerment, and bridging the gap between science and society. I want to create spaces where diverse communities feel represented and connected to the ocean, then turning this connection into ocean-action. In my platform Mel del Mar you can find my work!
